When We Met is a rock duo founded by Bryan Casey and Melissa Dorres. The two met by chance at a concert back in 2010, bonded about music and were instantly inseparable. After building a solid relationship with intentions to write music together, they finally collaborated on an EP and made their live debut at Dante’s in their hometown, Portland, Oregon in 2014. Since then WWM has become a favorite “couple rock band” in their music community. Blending genres such as new wave, post punk, industrial, electronic, alternative, indie, psych and pop. The two piece uses a mixture of live instrumentation and pre-recorded tracks to bring the music to life live, continuously evolving their energetic and engaging live performances.
As one of the hardest working DYI bands, Bryan and Melissa take on many duties outside of creating music together. Bryan is the mad man behind most of WWM’s unique electronic sounds, the in house recording engineer and graphic designer. Melissa is the mastermind behind most of WWM's tour management, booking and web design. The love of creating music and going on tour is what keeps When We Met going, it makes all the other somewhat tedious duties worth the effort. WWM is here to stay, in fact the duo recently got married, making it even more solidified that we will continue to see and hear more When We Met creations and tour dates!
Reviews / Quotes
"When We Met is a duo that performs effusive, punkish power pop anthems. Both members sing and are also accompanied by an arsenal of samples and drum programming, which gives them a surprisingly big sound for such a small group. The two also bounce around stage, creating an engaging and electrifying performance." - ALISON DENNIS, Portland Notes
"Their chemistry was infectious and their sound highly energetic, often danceable, a mix of late 80’s New Wave and mid 90’s Indie Rock. Both of them shared vocal duties and sang about everything from women’s rights to their own personal demons." - Freeform Portland
"This Portland, OR, duo brings that great new wave/punk touch in a manner similar to the B-52’s and DEVO with that Pixies attitude thrown in. Get off your ass and dance your blues away." - Audio Fuzz
